SMIRA - SELECTIVE MUTISM INFORMATION & RESEARCH ASSOCIATION

SMIRA is a  UK charity dedicated to  Selective Mutism ,  there is no equivalent in Ireland .  The website was set up to support families and children with SM. Now it also supports professionals in health and educational settings involved with children with SM. The website and facebook pages provide lots of information and support and links to other resources.

SMA - SELECTIVE MUTISM ASSOCIATION 

This is like SMIRA only based in the states. The website's mission is  to promote public awareness, to educate and support the expansion of research about selective mutism, and to speak out for anyone unable to speak for themselves. Similar to SMIRA it supports the Selective Mutism community by sharing information and providing online support. It should be noted that some of the specifics in approaches to treating Selective Mutism may slightly differ to that taken in Ireland and the UK but there is a general consistency in the approach.

SELECTIVE MUTISM H.E.L.P.

Selective Mutism H.E.L.P. is a United States based website set up my Kelly a  mother of a child with Selective Mutism. Kelly runs free online summits on Selective Mutism twice a year. On these recorded web summits she interviews professionals and experts in the field of Selective Mutism but also parents of children with Selective Mutism and individuals with Selective Mutism. The Summits discuss a range of topics and Life time access can be purchased if you are unable to attend the dates of the free Summit. Kelly has also a podcast and resources on SM on her website.

ANXIETY CANADA

Anxiety Canada is a registered charity and non-profit organization, Anxiety Canada was established to raise awareness about anxiety, and to support access to proven resources and treatment in Canada. It has a section on Selective Mutism with a video to accompany it. It also has a useful video that can be shown to children explaining anxiety.
